The Cowrie & Raffia Tassel is handmade by Balinese craftsmen from natural cowrie shells, a wooden bead, and a full raffia fringe. Hang it on a door handle, a curtain rod, or a wall hook — or simply rest it on a chest of drawers. Wherever it lands, it brings a quiet coastal energy that feels both collected and considered.

The cowrie shells cluster tightly around the body, each one slightly different in size and tone. The raffia fringe falls loosely below a silver-toned metal cap, catching the light as it moves. It is the kind of detail that makes a room feel lived-in and well-travelled.

Why We Selected It

We are drawn to objects that carry a sense of place. This tassel reads immediately as something made by hand, in a specific part of the world, from materials that grew there. The cowrie shells have been used in decorative craft across coastal cultures for centuries — here they are used with restraint and precision.
