The Raffia Tajoe Tassel is a wall hanging of quiet complexity. A full raffia fringe fans out from a circular medallion of tightly coiled seed beads and cowrie shells — arranged in concentric rings with a flower of shells at the centre. A long strand of natural wood beads forms the hanging cord. The result is something between a talisman and a textile: deeply handmade, deeply Balinese.
Hang it on a wall hook, a door, or a curtain rod. It works as a single statement piece or grouped with other natural objects. The raffia fringe moves gently in the air, giving it a softness that photographs cannot fully capture.
Why We Selected It
The Tajoe is the more elaborate sibling of our Cowrie & Raffia Tassel — larger, more intricate, and more commanding. The beadwork on the medallion is precise and dense, with a craftsmanship that reads clearly up close. The cowrie shells are arranged with intention, not scattered. On a whitewashed wall or beside a raw wood door, it looks exactly right.
